Product Manager, Payment Solutions

Reports to CTO

About Vinyl Equity

We’re building the next generation of capital-markets infrastructure, starting with a modern, digital-native transfer agent designed for today’s public companies.

Vinyl Equity is transforming one of the most legacy-heavy and operationally critical parts of the capital markets by delivering the first API-driven, real-time infrastructure for public companies. Our platform replaces slow, manual processes with secure, automated workflows that help issuers operate faster, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.

We’re backed by leading investors including Index Ventures, Spark Capital, Infinity Ventures, and others who have funded many of the world’s most impactful financial-technology companies. Our team draws from deep experience at NYSE, Equiniti, Computershare, and AngelList, giving us a unique understanding of the industry’s pain points — and how to solve them.

We have a massive market, a well-defined customer, and strong momentum. With demand accelerating and new product lines on the horizon, there’s never been a better time to join.

About the Role

We’re seeking a senior Product Manager to own the Payment Solutions roadmap across Transfer Agency, Corporate Actions, and Paying Agency — the product surfaces that move real money between issuers, shareholders, and their service providers. Payment Solutions is already a validated revenue line at Vinyl, with millions of dollars in distributions processed for live customers and meaningfully larger deals in flight. The opportunity now is to take a product built with operational hustle and scale it into the category-defining offering for modern issuers.

You will own the roadmap end-to-end. Our CTO owns top-level vendor relationships across payments, banking, and on-chain infrastructure; our CEO and CRO drive commercial strategy and own top-of-funnel customer relationships. You will be the product and technical face across both — leading partner diligence and integration discussions with payment vendors alongside the CTO, and representing Payment Solutions alongside sales in conversations with potential customers. You will be the connective tissue between engineering, compliance, ops, sales, and our payment partners. The role also connects directly to Vinyl’s tokenization initiatives — the future of dividend payments and shareholder distributions runs through both traditional payment rails and on-chain settlement, and we want a product leader who sees that the two are converging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the Payment Solutions roadmap across Transfer Agency, Corporate Actions, and Paying Agency — spanning dividend distributions, cash mergers, escheatment, tender offers, and shareholder payment workflows.
  • Define the product vision for a multi-rail payments stack that combines traditional banking rails (ACH, RTP, wire) with on-chain settlement — including stablecoin payment rails as a first-class option for dividends and distributions.
  • Drive integration with shareholder wallets to enable on-chain dividend payments to tokenized share holders, in coordination with our tokenization team.
  • Lead partner diligence and integration conversations with payment vendors — traditional banking, treasury, and on-chain settlement — alongside our CTO, who owns the top-level vendor relationships.
  • Represent Payment Solutions in sales meetings with prospective customers — acting as the product and technical voice alongside the sales team, scoping integration paths and translating customer needs back into the roadmap.
  • Run the FBO vs. DDA, KYC/KYB, and BSA/AML decisions in collaboration with our fractional Chief Compliance Officer; ensure every workflow is compliant by design, not retroactively.
  • Sequence the build to keep manual ops work shrinking as transaction volume grows — unit economics matter.
  • Define and track success metrics: payment volume processed, settlement timelines, exception rates, gross margin per transaction, customer time-to-first-payment.
  • Write clear product specs, decision memos, and board updates. Translate banking, regulatory, on-chain, and operational complexity into narratives that engineers, executives, and customers can act on.
  • Work with sales on customer-specific deal economics, integration scopes, and onboarding timelines.

This is a Chicago-based role at our West Loop headquarters, and candidates must be able to work in-office at least three days per week.

Role Requirements

  • 7+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years in payments, fintech, banking infrastructure, or treasury/payments operations.
  • Direct, hands-on experience shipping product against payment rails — ACH/NACHA, RTP, wire, FBO and DDA account structures, stablecoin rails, or equivalents.
  • Track record managing roadmaps gated by regulatory approvals, compliance reviews, or partner onboarding.
  • Strong working knowledge of KYC, KYB, BSA/AML, and the operational practices that translate compliance requirements into product workflows.
  • Comfort with technical architecture and cross-functional collaboration with engineering leads on integration design, exception handling, and reconciliation.
  • Strong written communication: product specs, partner briefs, investor and board updates.
  • Experience working with distributed international engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML tools in a product or operational setting.

Nice to Haves

  • Exposure to capital markets, transfer agency, broker-dealer operations, or securities settlement.
  • Experience launching a paying agency, escrow agent, or exchange agent product.
  • Prior work integrating ACH, RTP, wire, or comparable payments and treasury rails at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with stablecoin payments, on-chain settlement, or wallet integrations (custodial or self-custodial).
  • Background in fintech operations roles before moving into product — having operated the workflow gives you a sharper sense of what to automate.

You could be a great fit if:

  • You take pride in operational excellence and believe how something is delivered matters as much as what is delivered.
  • You’ve built your career running real money movement inside regulated, operationally complex B2B environments and care about the craft of doing it well.
  • You’re energized by ambiguity and want to define how a function operates rather than inherit a structure built by someone else.
  • You enjoy the craft of customer experience through anticipating needs, communicating proactively, and making complex things feel simple.
  • You’re motivated by fast growth and excited by the pace, autonomy, and opportunity that comes with an early-stage startup.
  • You’re energized by the idea of helping introduce real innovation into an industry that has largely stood still for nearly three decades.
  • You bring rigor to documentation, process, and follow-through and expect the same from your partners.

Why join us?

  • Define the product function for a validated, revenue-generating product line at the ground floor.
  • Work directly with the CEO, CRO, and CTO; influence company strategy from day one.
  • Competitive salary, equity, and full benefits.
  • Chicago HQ + global engineering team.

Benefits (for U.S.-based full-time employees)

  • Target base salary: $160K–$200K, commensurate with experience
  • Equity-based compensation
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance
  • 401k
  • Flexible PTO
  • Hybrid work schedule
